St. Augustine decline is a disease that attacks the turf grass and basically kills it. Chinch bugs, which you usually see in the early spring and in the fall, munch on the roots and produce these round circles that you see in your yard. It looks similar to a brown patch. It’s actually chinch bugs that cause this.
